School Construction
Congo is a place where children no longer have schools and must build them on their own. Now imagine those schools with no supplies, no chalk, no pencils, no paper, and no books. This is what life is like for children in Congo.
During the civil war in Congo, which broke out in 1998, schools were burned and demolished and school supplies were stolen and destroyed. The parents are unable to pay for schooling;
the students themselves volunteer to help Gabkul Foundation to build schools, teachers are still teaching even though they are not receiving salaries, and students are still attending classes even though they do not have school supplies. Because there is now a relative peace in Congo, an opportunity has risen for us to respond to this desperate need of the Congolese Children.
We also seek to create a library, sciences and computer laboratory in this school that we are currently building for St. Gabriel Catholic Church, which will allow the orphans, and street children to complete their education with knowledge in sciences and computer.
NEEDS AND REQUIREMENTS
-
Building Materials: For building construction and for major equipment purchases, the school relies upon the generosity of its donors. Gabkul Foundation faces huge difficulties in launching its activities. The building needs to be finished and remodeled to cope with its demands. We need financial aid to fix the school building, in order to be able to provide a suitable education along with the promise of brighter future filled with the promise of a better life.
-
Furniture, Desks, Computers, Books, Pen and Pencils, School and lunch bags: To be able to cope with the demand, we need the most essential for school attendance. Computer lab has ongoing needs for books, staffing, curriculum development and technology upgrades in our effort to provide our students with the skills they will need to be successful in high school, college and in the work force.
